Accountant/Sr -

Job Description:This Accountant position will be Monitoring General and Auxiliary Fund budgets and expenditures, other funds as assigned. Control payroll feed to Finance, reconcile monthly to general ledger. Assist with budget development process. Maintain & reconcile fixed assets and related accounts. Reconcile all assets and liabilities to sub-ledgers and other supporting documentation for funds assigned. Ability to perform analysis on accounting transactions and initiative to make improvements on analysis. Analyze accounting data and adapt accounting report sub-systems to meet management needs for non-standard fiscal information and ad hoc reports. Provide management reports and other information as requested. Provide support for annual audit and budget process, and other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field plus four (4) years progressive experience, w/three years experience in fixed asset accounting or equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Microsoft Excel and Word, and experience with Microsoft Access or similar database reporting product. Knowledge of financial management terms, principles, and theories. Strong knowledge of state and federal accounting guidelines, GASB, & FASB. Strong organizational skills, detail and customer service oriented. Ability to work well under pressure, handle multiple tasks, and work independently. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with automated/integrated accounting systems (i.e. Banner, Financial Records System, SAP, etc.) and related experience working in a higher education, government, and/or non-profit environment and CPA.
