Assistant Operations Manager - Part Time

If you have an impressive management record of achievement, your future should be with us!  We are an industry leader in the same day delivery arena with consistent growth and profit increases.  This success has created outstanding opportunities for a results-driven manager on a part-time basis who has the ability and drive to successfully lead people and grow a service business for our locations in the Tidewater, VA area.

The primary responsibility of this position is to provide daily management of assets and Human Resources including the application of company policies and procedures to achieve efficiency, profitability and good working relations with dispatch, customer service, administration, sales, independent contractors, customers and the public.  This position may grow into a full-time position.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

· Ensure exceptional customer service is achieved by exceeding “service targets” and objectives.

· Ensure the quality and fairness of dispatch, sporadically fill in as dispatch back-up when required.  We are available to our customers 24 hours a day, 365 days per year.

· Recommend staffing needs for the Operations department.

· Recruit, hire, and ensure adequate training of staff.

· Monitor revenue and cost levels to ensure efficiency, profitability and institute policies and procedures to correct inadequacies.

· Promote new business.

· Visit Customer sites upon request.

· Recommend rates, institute pricing procedures and carry out rating policies as instructed by Division Director.

· Keep the Division Director informed of daily activity.

· Establish and maintain agent/vendor relationships, and ensure vendor agreements are in place.

· Authorize payment of operational invoices.

· Ensure adherence to procedural and policy requirements of various government bodies including DOT.

· Perform all other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

· BA or BS degree in Business or in related field.

· Minimum 2-3 years experience in a Supervisory/Management capacity in Operations

· Leadership qualities.

· Combination of skills and experiences that may include prior industry experience, general management, sales and other relevant background.

· Maintain a high degree of self-discipline.

· Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.

· Excellent organizational skills.
