Associate Change Control Specialist
Job Summary:
This position is responsible for the entry and maintenance of production data within the Cognex Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. Additionally, the Associate Change Control Specialist is responsible for assisting with normal documentation control and print-room functions by both physical and/or electronic means. These include, but are not limited to, document copying, logging, distribution, and archiving. Under the direction of the Documentation Control Supervisor or designee, the Associate Change Control Specialist will assist in the preparation, verification, coordination and compilation of all information necessary to successfully create and process Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), and Product Change Orders (PCOs), from origination through finalization.
Work involves processing the following types of production documents:
Engineering Change Notices (ECOs)Product Change Notices (PCOs)Bills of Material (BOMs)Manufacturing DeviationsPart Number Request (PNR) FormsEngineering and Manufacturing specifications and procedures
This position requires frequent interaction with the engineering, purchasing, marketing, and manufacturing organizations within Cognex. The position reports to the Documentation Control Supervisor.
Essential Functions:
1. Prepare, ECOs & PCOs as required to support the product development, manufacturing, and sales & marketing organizations. (25%)
2. Finalize ECOs & PCOs: Perform Product Kit, Product ID, inventory item, and BOM maintenance in ERP system (25%)
3. Record revision history and effective dates in ERP system (5%)
4. Enter and/or modify AVL information in ERP system (5%)
5. Obtain product drawings from Engineering and ensure they are properly posted on the Cognex intranet (5%)
6. Maintain log, perform data entry, and archive Manufacturing Deviations (5%)
7. Distribute ECOs, PCOs, and Manufacturing Deviations per Documentation Control distribution list. (5%)
8. Properly secure, file, and store controlled product documents (5%)
9. Assign, log, track, and enter Cognex part numbers and associated data into the Cognex Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. (5%)
10. Initiate, and track PNRs through the part number approval process. (5%)
11. Structure Cognex part numbers to create engineering and production BOMs within the ERP system. (5%)
12. Perform daily maintenance on the ECO/PCO/Deviation status report. (5%)
Additional Responsibilities:
May assist internal customers locate controlled documents and/or obtain product history. Under the guidance of the Documentation Control Supervisor or designee, the Associate Change Control Specialist will also create controlled production documentation that clearly defines Cognex products, and establishes comprehensive revision history.

5. Some familiarity with ISO9000 documentation practices
Minimum education and work experience required:
1. Minimum of a high school education, and 1 year of experience in an engineering change control environment. Technical school education a plus.
2. Some familiarity with industry standard documentation and configuration control practices
3. Experience with PeopleSoft ERP system a plus
