Associate Director, Media Relations-Washington, DC
Job Description:Associate Director - Media Relations - Washington, DCMajor Purpose:? Manage FINRA individual investor and dispute resolution media programs. Essential Functions:? Serve as spokesperson for FINRA to members of the media, guiding them on financial and securities industry matters and offering background information for stories. Write and disseminate press releases.? Assist in production of daily news summary. Develop and execute corporate communications initiatives and messages which build and promote the company’s positive image in the marketplace and with the media.? Identify, develop, and manage media avenues so that the company has access to positive opportunities in all channels of the media.? Strategically position senior officials prominently in media.? Prepare the CEO and senior officers and executives for media interviews; develop talking points, Q&As, and media strategies that advance the company’s overall business objectives.? Anticipate direction of reporter/story, alert Vice President of Media Relations to potential issues and brief participating senior management on interview accordingly. Other Responsibilities:? Respond to media requests, including securities trade publications.? Keep abreast of national and international financial and securities activities and news.? Manage duties as assigned. Education and Experience Requirements:? Bachelors Degree in journalism, communications, business, public administration or the equivalent.? Ten years experience in journalism and communications, with a proven track record handling media relations for CEO and top company Executives.? Must possess superior verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to multi-task.? Established media relationships with business and consumer press.? Securities or Financial Services industry experience highly desired. Working Conditions:?
