Cell Culture Associate Scientist (Engineer) I/II

Position Summary Bioreactor Cell Culture Associate Scientist (Engineer) I/II Major Duties and Responsibilities:• Develop optimized processes for cell growth and virus production using shaker, spinner flasks, roller bottles and bioreactors up to 50 L scale.• Produce large volume of mammalian cells and vaccine bulk for downstream process and analytical development• Participate in cell culture process development, scale-up and technology transfer activities• Conduct adherent and suspension cell line development and characterization studies • Organize data; write technical reports and present results at internal and external meetings.Requirements/Qualifications:Education: Masters or Bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Cell biology or Virology requiredExperience: B.S. with minimum of 5 years, M.S. with minimum of 3 years. Special Skills/Abilities: Experience in mammalian cell culture and bioreactor process development is required. Must be able to operate small-scale bioreactors independently for production of development materials. Must be well organized, detail-oriented and have good oral and written communication skills. The ability to work well in a team environment is required. Knowledge of DOE, amino acid and mammalian cell metabolite analysis are a big plus. Experience in working with automated bioreactors is highly desirable.Job Complexity: The candidate will be expected to provide scientific input to development activities and become an integral part of the process development team. Supervision: Ability to work independently from protocols with minimal supervision.
