Under the direction of the Senior Director of Clinical Excellence and under the policies and procedures of CSM, the staff surveys the environment and educates staff to promote quality, infection control, safety and adverse event prevention. The goal is to provide real time management of the care delivered and to ensure that evidence based practice is achieved, quality targets met, nosocomial infections controlled and adverse events minimized. The goal is to achieve quality; safety and infection goals and outcomes are met. This will be accomplished through a combination of real time clinical surveillance and data review with intervention as analysis reveals patterns for action. The staff will work with clinicians on their assigned units, will provide data with analysis and lead discussion for improvements within the Medical Staff Division Meetings. When a significant event occurs the staff will organize an ad hoc team to perform a root cause analysis, outlining corrective action. The staff member will take a leadership role in promoting JCAHO’s patient safety requirements; will support the CSM organizational objectives through participation on task forces and Quality Improvement teams as needed and requested.

• Bachelor of Science required.  Bachelor of Nursing preferred.  Master of Science preferred.

• Demonstrated leadership skills

• Knowledge of Quality Improvement, quality analysis methodology, indicator management and outcomes maintenance

• Demonstrates the ability to conduct root cause analysis, data presentation and analysis

• Provides data analysis and directs medical staff department meeting discussion around data interpretation, improvements and follow up and through with results

• Creates and promotes a culture of clinical curiosity, quality driven practice and of patient• Knowledge of epidemiology, infection control and management processes and iterpretation of statistics. CERTIFICATION AND/OR CONTINUING EDUCATION IN Quality, Safety, Infection Control.
