They form the foundation of our SUPERVALU Advantage - the key to our continuing success.Responsibilities:Responsible for the daily determinations of the most efficient routing solution possible for all deliveries leaving the DC with particular importance placed on maximizing cube per load with minimum total and empty miles driven. Additionally, maximum on-time delivery percents must be maintained. Understand optimum timing of deliveries and backhaul pickups, geographically efficient loading, product compatibility regarding temperature and humidity to minimize in-transit deterioration, as well as optimizing cube and weight to achieve the most cost effective transportation solution. Find routing solutions, based on profitability, service, and availability of drivers and equipment. Responsible for monitoring overall quality of service and seeking resolution to issues and problems.Qualifications:- Four-year degree or equivalent, as well as 5 years of experience in a distribution/logistics environment are essential. - Proven experience in establishing goals, efficiently utilizing limited resources, prioritizing tasks and meeting time sensitive deadlines. - Display high detail accuracy, high-level of motivation and stress tolerance in a time-critical environment. - A self starter who works well under pressure, is prompt, accurate, well organized and has flexibility to handle routine and non-routine matters.- Excellent communication, human relations, interpersonal skills. - Experience with the Microsoft software applications as well as an aptitude for mainframe applications. - Experience with a computerized routing system is highly desirable. Additional Info:The tentative schedule for this position Sunday through Thursday with a start time about 4:30 AM.
