To sustain and enhance our leadership position in the pharmaceutical industry, we continue to recruit, develop and motivate individuals whose skills, values, and work ethic will grow and improve our business.Job SummaryA Consultant in the Global Unix/Linux Server Solutions (GULSS) group plays a senior role in formulating technical strategy and architecture for Unix and Linux server platforms including HP-UX, Sun Solaris, and Redhat Linux.As a subject matter expert, the consultant will provide technical leadership for strategic, complex, multi-disciplined IT projects involving the architecture, testing, and documenting for large scale projects, and will act as an ultimate point of escalation/resolution for complex level III Unix/Linux systems administration issues .As the third level global support for GULSS, the consultant will work in support of our IT or business clients, providing guidance on best practices for using our services, supporting application deployments, and providing expert level III diagnosis and resolution of production and development problems. Job ResponsibilitiesProvides technical leadership and guidance for multi region, and/or multi site projects involving HP, Sun, and Redhat platformsDevelops forward thinking solutions to complex problems, which are imaginative, fully tested, and that are practical in use.Develops technical roadmaps and strategies; will be a key contributor of input to long-term IT strategy necessary to achieve organizational objectives.Works with clients to proactively identify long-term functional business requirements; represents organization on technical matters; frequent inter-organizational and external contacts.Basic QualificationsBS/BA / MS/MA + 10 years or PhD + 4 years or equivalent experience. Advanced knowledge of hardware/ software; wide application of knowledge in more than one major technical area.Training requirements are listed in the Wyeth Unix/Linux curriculum.Enterprise level Unix/Linux Engineering and Administration experience or strong experience in one of the following areas: SAP BASIS Administration, Oracle DBA or WebLogic Administration in a Unix/Linux environment. Incumbent must also have excellent oral and written communication skills.
