Job SummaryThe consultant must possess advanced knowledge of hardware and software, advanced knowledge of UNIX / Linux, and basic knowledge of the Oracle Databases. The consultant should be able to provide sophisticated technical and/or project leadership for large, cross-functional projects. The consultant should possess good analytical skills, and be able to develop imaginative, thorough, and practicable solutions to complex problems. They should work well with clients, and be able to function independently with very general direction. The consultant will manage systems supporting the UNIX / Linux Server infrastructure in the North America Data Centers according to the departmental priorities, ensuring optimal execution, consistent with overall IS and site priorities. The consultant works with other IS departments in Wyeth to ensure that the server platforms are adequately supported and IS provides a high quality of service to our clients. The consultant liaisons with Regional and Global IS Technology groups that establish Data Center IS infrastructure strategies and lead the implementation of these strategies.Job ResponsibilitiesInstall, customize, and maintain UNIX / Linux Server infrastructure in the North America Data Centers, consistent with overall IS priorities.Provide day-to-day support of UNIX / Linux Server infrastructure in the North America Data Centers.Work with other IS departments to ensure that client priorities are adequately addressed and that IS provides a high quality of service to our clients.Liaison with IS Technology groups, and other IS Operations groups to implement and support infrastructure strategies developed in liaison with Regional and Global IS Technology groups.Plan and direct large, cross-functional projects. Develop individual project plans and coordinate activities of other staff members.Ensure full compliance with SOPs and other compliance requirements.Basic QualificationsThe incumbent should posses a Bachelor’s/Master’s degree or relevant industry experience in lieu of a degree.The candidate should also possess excellent hardware/software skills, intermediate knowledge of Unix operating systems and basic knowledge of the Oracle Database system. BS/MS in Computer Sciences plus 10 years experience or the equivalent education and experience. The work should include a segment in the required field of expertise, specifically, UNIX / Linux systems supporting Oracle databases.Strong oral & written communication skills.Strong customer service, administrative, and analytical skills are also essential.Demonstrated ability to work independently, takes initiatives, assume responsibility, and make timely decisions.Knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry is preferred.Good knowledge of compliance requirements that pertain to computer systems. Relocation is not available for this position.
