Primary Job Activities

 

1.  Handle all customer requests professionally and efficiently.

2.  Keep abreast of changes in products and equipment by attending seminars or  workshops offered by vendors

3.  Accurately process orders and follow up on all activities related to orders.

4.  Establish rapport with customer to ensure customer satisfaction and continued sales relationship.

5.  Maintain professional, orderly appearance of the store.

 

 

Job Summary 

Represent the company in a professional manner by assisting customers politely and efficiently at the counter or on the phone. Promote sales by keeping customers informed of specials and promotions.  Build quality relationships with customers to encourage repeat purchases and continued customer growth. Continually take advantage of the education and training offered by the company in order to increase knowledge of the industry. 

 

Duties and ResponsibilitiesAssist customers and promote sales on the counter and telephone by providing professional and courteous customer service and product knowledge.

 Enter orders placed by customer or provide quotes:

 Verify customer’s account number, credit standing and any applicable information required by the account, such as, correct part numbers, order quantities and price. 

Fill orders properly – place order in will call or schedule order for delivery in a timely fashion.  

 Follow up on any special order or backordered item and make sure the customer’s request is filled according to their needs.

 

o Collect payment for orders or post payments against a customer’s account. 

 

 

 Execute cycle counting of branch inventory.  Maintain proper bin locations on all stocked items. Remove bin location from any item that is no longer stocked.  Flag item for cycle count when QOH discrepancy is found.

 Provide feedback to inventory distribution department on issues related to stock levels, non-stock inventory or other requirements. 

 Interact with the sales department staff in regard to the needs or requests of customers.  Share information on possible leads or ideas that will allow us the opportunity to grow the business with our customers.

 Perform duties associated with warehouse shipping and receiving of inventory. Accurate receiving of purchase orders and warehouse transfers.

 Accurate shipping of warehouse transfers.

 Load and unload trucks when necessary. 

 Handling of the unavailable inventory.

 Maintain appearance of building, counter, storefront area and warehouse.

 All areas need to be kept neat and orderly. 

 All catalogs and books need to be kept orderly and up to date.

 Setup and maintain displays as needed and have knowledge of items on the display.

 Maintain literature and other informational material available for customers.

 Attend seminars or training sessions on existing and new products to further enhance service to the customer.

 

 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

 Technical knowledge related to the job such as basic electricity, functions of furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, refrigeration, boilers, etc.

 Ability to handle phone calls and assist walk-up customers in a professional and courteous manner.

 Ability to listen, communicate and interact effectively with customers.

 Computer knowledge and specific software knowledge.

 Knowledge of company procedures and policies. 

 Ability to research product information and make informed decisions based on that research.

 Ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out instructions (written or verbal)

 Ability to work with numbers; Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, percentages, etc. 

Ability to maintain a positive, courteous and professional relationship with customers and co-workers.

Ability to lift a weight of 50 pounds.

Ability to operate or learn to operate a forklift.

 

 Credentials and Experience

 

Minimal high school diploma with additional certification from college or technical school helpful

 

Experience in the HVAC industry, with strong emphasis on customer service

 

Experience with computer systems Work Environment

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to temperatures that are outside the normal human comfort ranges of 72 to 76 degrees.
