The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, as well as at least 4 years of experience in the field. Responsibilities: . Install and configures database servers. Provide design recommendations. Perform backup and Recovery. Perform troubleshooting for resolving performance issues and tuning. Provide training on features and appropriate use of tools. Analyze databases and recommends upgrades/changes. Help to assess the organizationi:s current and future database needs. Communicate with enterprise business units to understand and report on database operations, availability and requirements. Explore, evaluate and recommend database technologies to support business requirements. Clearly articulate situations and opportunities to business units in both spoken and written form. Provide analysis of database operation through weekly/monthly reports. Maintain database infrastructure to ensure high availability (exceeding 99.9% uptime) for company utilization.. Support and maintain information technology infrastructure as required through Performance of Tasks as assigned by and other IT ManagementRequires: . Experience with increasing levels of responsibility. Strong knowledge of DB2 installation and configuration. Strong knowledge of HP Unix. Background and experience with Microsoft Server 2000/2003 administration and support. Background in performance tuning existing data models. Strong troubleshooting skills for resolving various site performance issues and tuning. Strong understanding of major components of DB2 Architecture, optimization and database tuning, backups and architecture to support custom software development, and third party applications. Experience with Lawson. Backup and recovery of DB2. Ability to design and implement disaster recovery. Backup and restore strategy involving complete database backup/restore, transaction log backup/restore. Experience in establishing security integrity controls in conjunction with the applications and security groups. Must have strong communication and training skills and be able to communicate technical information to non-technical users. High Availability experience (HP Unix systems, ServiceGard clustering, 24x7, mission critical). Background in SAN/DAS environments including an understanding of RAID technology. Customer service orientation.. Ability to work effectively as a member of a team, and the ability to interact successfully with academic as well as business and regulatory personnel.
