Annual Salary Range: $132,496.00 - $161,137.60

The Alameda County Public Works Agency is actively recruiting for the position of Deputy Director, Public Works (Development Services). This position is located in Hayward, CA.




THE POSITION
This is an exciting career opportunity to serve as a key member of a progressive organization. The Deputy Director reports to the Agency Director and manages the activities of the Development Services Department. The Department, under the direction of the Deputy Director assists in approving new subdivisions, residential and commercial developments, and infrastructure improvements through the review of filed maps, development plans, and inspection of infrastructure and building construction; assures compliance with building and other regulations in the unincorporated areas of the County; and manages a countywide effort to control stormwater pollution. The composition of this department includes three divisions: Building Inspection, Land Development, and Clean Water. This position is located in Hayward, CA.





QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with an engineering curriculum, which included the basic engineering courses normally covered by a standard four-year college course in Civil Engineering.

AND

The equivalent of five years full time supervisory experience as a registered Civil Engineer, at least two years of which should have been as a director of assistant director of an engineering organization of similar size to a public works department.  Candidates must also possess a valid certificate of registration as a Civil Engineer issued by the California State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors. A valid California Motor Vehicle Operator's license (may be obtained within 30 days of appointment).
