Henry Street Settlement, founded in 1893, is an established social service and community arts organization devoted to bringing a better quality of life to New Yorkers, particularly residents of the Lower East Side.  Our programs include transitional shelter and employment training for homeless families; a community mental health center; activities and assistance for the elderly; youth leadership, education and job training; as well as a nationally recognized Arts Center.



We are looking for an energetic, experienced professional to join our development team.

 

· Works with agency program staff on grants for general support and programs in the social services;

· Writes/edits/coordinates proposals, reports, acknowledgments and budgets for foundations, corporations, government agencies and individual donors;

· Assists with maintaining Department Calendar of grant deadlines, circulates RFP’s and grant announcements to senior staff;

· Conducts research to find potential new sources of support;

· Helps coordinate fundraising with other initiatives of a 12-member Development & External Relations Department;

· Special projects as assigned, including cultivation events.

 

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have:  B.A. degree and previous development experience; outstanding writing and editing skills; demonstrable grant writing track record; overall flexibility and ability to work under pressure and meet many deadlines; familiarity with social service programs; Microsoft Word and Excel experience essential.
