Position Description:
The Corporate Marketing Strategies Department located in Pleasanton, California, has an opening for a Director, Space Planning.Qualifications: 4 year college degree in Marketing or Business required7-10 years of demonstrated leadership of a large work group Proven ability to develop new strategy/process and effectively lead and manage change Proven organization and project management skills requiredDemonstrated financial management skills requiredStrong negotiating and communication experience required.Minimum 3-5 years category management experience Store Stocking Manager, Schematic Development, or Store Layout experience preferable2-3 years PC, Microsoft Office. CAD, Toolbox, and Apollo experience preferred. Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Directly responsible for managing the schematic development and implementation processes as well as the in store layout and design for Safeway, Inc.Responsible for developing new strategies and processes to enable the change to delivering more customer-centric assortments and clustered schematics.Responsible for managing and leading a staff of directors, managers and analysts (25+) to develop and execute the standards, guidelines, principles of merchandising services. Direct and supervise the Director, Schematic Development on effective and efficient store mapping, reset planning, schematic building, and retail execution practices and processesDirect and supervise the Director, Store Layout and Design on managing and maintaining store blueprints with integration of department merchandising objectivesResponsible for managing the manufacturer schematics on-site staffResponsible for integrating all merchandising, placement, layout and design strategies from the overall category management process for all departments.Responsible for the bottom line financial impact of implementation, through the use of internal and external labor resources for reset merchandising, new stores, and remodels.Research, develop, and integrate industry wide "best practice" placement and merchandising practices.Develop and manage the technological integration of space management software into product placement processes and practices.Actively communicate internal best practices between retail division store stocking departments.Direct all manufacturer and 3rd party resources on new store, remodel, and reset functions.Travel required: 5-15% Respond to: Interested candidates are encouraged to submit a resume by visiting www.safeway.com/careers
