Our authoritative, accurate and timely information is essential for drug companies to discover new drugs and get them to market faster; researchers to find relevant papers and know what’s newly published in their subject; and businesses to optimize their intellectual property and find competitive intelligence.  We will create the research platforms and services of the future that will power our customers toward business and personal success. The Marketing Director will create, develop, and share strategic, product, and customer marketing objectives and plans to drive growth in Corporate Markets. The Marketing Director will lead an international marketing team (focusing on North American and EMEA) to meet the strategic objectives of the business unit and the corporation. He or she will develop and guide successful planning and implementation of marketing campaigns to support global branding, customer acquisition and customer retention.The Marketing Director is also responsible for finding new ways to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the teams, coordinate management of marketing budgets, make purchase decisions for the team, analyze overall return on promotional investment, monitor the market place and competition, and promote active talent management and development. Direct and manage development of marketing plans and programs to support strategic and revenue objectives for the business. Identify and develop best in class marketing, effective practices, and procedures for enabling utilization of the full marketing mix (including direct marketing, online marketing, advertising, Web content management, PR, customer communications, newsletters, event promotions, internal messaging, and sales support collateral). Oversee management of creative elements of a Scientific marketing campaign to ensure quality, consistency and accuracy, of message. Lead team to optimize return on investment. Develop messaging for regional markets and communication via a flexible framework. Work closely with EMEA and Asia Pacific markets. Oversee management of the budget. Set, review, amend, analyze and report on expenditure according to the corporate finance calendar, and as business requirements demand. Generate a high performance culture and ensure customer focus is strong. Ensure team has visibility across Scientific by implementing effective communication channels between teams and appropriate departments. Communicate strategic perspectives, financial targets and ongoing performance of the Business Unit to the marketing teams. Present a vision, make it easy for the department to get things done, involve everyone, show trust, & appreciation, listen and act. Create an environment that encourages staff to reach their full potential.  Work with Senior Marketing Managers for recruitment, training (coaching) and developing team members as they progress their careers within Scientific. 8+ years experience in marketing in a publishing and/or industry information/software environment. Senior level management experience in a marketing role with Matrix Management experience, leadership and international management skills. An advanced degree or professional marketing qualification (MBA, CIM/IDM) desirable. A strong strategic marketing background coupled with the ability to prioritize, and execute swiftly. Strong remote management skills and experience managing teams in virtual environments. Experience in marketing to or understanding of Scientific markets. Strong understanding of intellectual property strategies and assets. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to represent area of responsibility effectively both inside and outside the company. Good problem solving skills especially concerning new ways to achieve revenues in changing business environment. Can set priorities and be flexible in changing environment. Able to adapt and work effectively with a variety of situations, individuals or groups. Strong project management skills and strength in managing multiple projects/deadlines. Experience of budgeting and controlling budgets. Good level of analytical thinking to ensure revenues, profit and business performance are optimized. Creativity and imagination. High integrity and trust. Decision making in support of best-practice marketing. Ability to travel internationally as needed.
