Director of Marketing, Fragrance and Body
The Director of Marketing, Fragrance & Body will work closely with the Executive Vice President of International & Licensing to successfully develop the St. John Fragrance & Body brand. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Ongoing analysis of the business and manage/implement new product launches and promotional activities. Full understanding of the Fragrance & Body business model for continued growth an areas of development Work with vendors and with all other functional areas to ensure there is a strong launch and promotional plan to build the business Work closely with sales team or regional account managers on developing programs and product knowledge. Work with Advertising to develop specific ads, collateral materials. Work with Marketing for specific promotions and events in the different retail chains Ensure the timely execution of all programs by interacting with the following areas:Marketing Services: Develop forecasting proposals for new products as well as revised forecasts for existing businesses affected by launch. Keep abreast of all timetables for new product launches and ensure that deadlines are met in a timely manner; identify potential problems and recommend solutions. Work closely with purchasing to develop ideas and proposals on GWPs, kits and other merchandizing collateral materialsCreative: Initiate new Marketing proposals and drive development with Creative group. Ensure that Creative is aware of all copy/package direction, providing components, working copy, etc. Review all copy submissions. Ensure that mechanicals are accurate for content, and that they are released on time. Monitor accuracy of final copy/art mechanicalsLegal/Claims: Ensure timely approval of all concepts, package copy, product inserts, displays and collateral copyTPD/Package Development: Drive the development of new package options. Ensure timetables are met for compatibility and OTC to meet launch deadlines. Follow-up on all cost of good s issues. Review packaging profiles for accuracy, advise changes, and review COGSProduct Development: Work closely with EVP of International & Licensing in the New Product Development Process including the following: ensuring that all necessary information is available from vendors for name, copy, and technology; approval of timetable, launch plan, planogram strategy, concepts, and PR plan. Work jointly as needed on category and formula analysesSales Administration: Assist in development of the sales strategy and execution, and apprise of budgets for individual programs, and ensuring that Marketing is aware of latest spending estimatesMarket Research: Develop and put together market research projects. Ensure Market Research is used appropriately and is within budget. Coordinate all research data and projects with department. Work towards future development of the lineFinancial Planning: Prepare and present the monthly budget updates to EVP of International & Licensing. Work with Finance to reconcile budget trends vs. actual for all areas and trouble shoot issues. Develop budgets for all programs and track that projects come in on or below budget ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBLITIES: Work with EVP of International & Licensing to recommend strategic retail pricing for new products. A minimum of 4-5 years' marketing experience in the cosmetics industry, preferably in cosmetics. Demonstrated financial acumen required including experience with managing an open to buy and sales forecasting Word, Excel, Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships across functional areas of the business enabling the successful achievement of initiatives across all brand categories Superior communication skills. Need to be able to articulate clear business direction and strategies.
