Under the general direction of the VP of Patient Services/Nurse Executive and within the policies and procedures of CSM, JCAHO and American Association of Respiratory Care (AARC) Clinical Practice Guidelines, the Director of Respiratory Care is responsible for the provision of Respiratory Care Services for our St. Mary's Ozaukee hospital campus. The Director of Respiratory Services is responsible for enhancing and improving the consistency in patient care by collaborating with other multidisciplinary health care teams by providing convenient, quality assessment, testing and treatment of patients with a pulmonary need; hence, assisting the patient to improve the quality of their lifestyle.  Specifically:

 

·  Directs the activities of the Respiratory Care Practitioners (inhalation therapists and technicians) who administer medicinal gases and aerosolized drugs to patients.

·  Provides scheduled and/or emergency therapeutic and diagnostic Respiratory Care services to the in/outpatient population 24/7.

·  Cost effective management of assigned areas through development and implementation of approved budget standards.  Monitors variances for cause/correction.  Understands financial concepts relevant to the organization and unit of accountability.

·  Retains, recognizes, coaches, fosters staff development and satisfaction by treating employees fairly, resolving conflicts appropriately, embracing diversity, encouraging participation in department/hospital based decision-making forums, Process Improvement and promoting an atmosphere of trust.  Provides guidelines for department staffing patterns consistent with productivity standards and quality care.

·  Works collaboratively with Medical staff; solicits their concerns, issues and ideas or opportunities for improved patient care, unit wellness and growth.

·  Understands customer needs and expectations for excellence in care and a compassionate approach.

·  Identifies areas for improvement based on patient/physician/employee feedback, organizational goals and initiatives, technology advances, changing health-care patterns, reimbursement variations.

·  Builds collegial partnerships across CSM.

 

Qualifications include: Graduate of an accredited program in related field Associates degree required Bachelor's degree preferred Three to five years of progressive experience in leadership and/or management RRT or RPSGT certification required Valid WI license CPR certification
