Dorchester County is seeking a
Director of Public Works/County Engineer
Position Open Until Filled

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF CLASS

The purpose of the class is to plan, direct and supervise all programs and operations of the Public Works Department, including transportation, solid waste, and stormwater; and to perform other professional, administrative and supervisory work as required. This class researches and formulates long-range goals for the organization, develops policy and position papers, and negotiates with chief administrative officers and/or elected officials.

VOCATIONAL/EDUCATIONAL PREPARATION:
Requires Bachelor's degree or education and training equivalent to four years of college education in civil engineering or a closely related field.

SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:
Must possess a valid state driver's license. Professional Engineer license required. Registered Land Surveyor preferred.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Requires over six years and up to and including ten years.
FULL S.C. State Benefit Package; 12 paid holidays; vacation and sick leave.

Hiring range: $81,484-$97,781
