Job Description Job Description:The primary function of this employee is to perform supervised planning work involving the research, utilizing GIS systems, graphics, land use analysis, organization and presentation of reports on land use planning issues. Requirements Graduation from a four-year college or university with emphasis on urban planning or engineering, with an advanced degree desired; experience with municipal planning; or any equivalent combination of experience and training. Strong consideration will be given to students required to complete a professional internship as part of an urban planning program. Knowledge of the basic principles and accepted practices of urban planning or civil engineering or related field. Knowledge of basic standard statistical principles and methods. Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of municipal land use planning. Ability to analyze facts and to exercise sound judgment in arriving at conclusions. Hands-on experience using ESRI ArcMap (GIS) preferred. Ability to analyze and interpret laws, ordinances, rules and regulations. Research includes land use, building and land occupancy, population and demographics, and economic and development issues. Qualitative and quantitative analysis, including development feasibility analysis Writing and editing for reports, legal documents, and public communication Working with senior staff to coordinate project logistics and subcontractors Understanding of Windows based software (Microsoft Office Suite - Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) including database and spreadsheet software.
