Embedded VOIP Engineer

Job Description:The client is seeking a senior or principal level Embedded VOIP Software Engineer to join their innovative and dynamic team. The ideal candidate will thrive in a small startup environment and be comfortable playing several roles at the same time. You will be responsible for the following:--Be one of the lead team members in the Embedded Software Engineering team. --VOIP feature design, architecture and implementation for our current product. --Problem solving and willing to dig into low level source code if necessary using debugging tools proficiently. --Development / Execution of test strategies and help write Test Plans for the QA group --Participate in creating high-level requirements and translate requirements into engineering tasks. --Evaluate and introduce new technology to improve the quality of existing VOIP infrastructure design and implementation. --Lead technical projects to reduce cost, improve service or provide innovative business solutions consistent with the business strategies. --Mentor and provide help to more junior engineers. --Provide field support on operational issues for VOIP, traditional voice, data systems and its interfaces with radios.



Job Experience:--Expert knowledge of the C++ programming language (5 years minimum) --Expert knowledge of current object-oriented architecture (OOA) and design (OOD) methodologies (5 years minimum) --Extensive experience developing VOIP applications using SIP, RTP/RTCP and other Signaling protocol. --Extensive experience in media/voice processing e.g. CODECS, jitter buffers, VAD, silence suppression, echo cancellation and other performance-impacting parameters. --Proven ability to develop, test and debug in a Linux environment (Windwos a plus) --Extensive experience in embedded programming with Linux RTOS and have dealt with RTOS-related scalability and performance issues. Additional skills/experience that would bring added value:--Working knowledge of DSP a plus. --Experience in wireless, radios and working knowledge of wireless installation a plus. --Experience in end-to-end IP networking design a definite plus. --Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work in a dynamic small team environment --BS CS/EE or equivalent
