Job Description:Associate Media Director, Emerging Media Technology is fundamentally changing the very nature of traditional media messaging, allowing conventional communications vehicles, especially television, to become more relevant, compelling and measurable. Similarly, the proliferation of increasingly smarter devices and platforms are creating a wide array of new consumer-controlled environments that go beyond the traditional boundaries of impression-oriented mass media.The advent of technologies like digital video recording, enhanced television, interactive guidance and navigation, video on demand, video on the internet, video on mobile devices, IPTV and targeted/addressable ad messaging are all poised to introduce rich consumer data into the traditional mix of TV planning and buying, while transforming the very tenets of advertising and marketing via the medium in the process.Starcom is passionately focused on staying ahead of today's emerging media evolutionary curve while helping clients both to understand this important transformation and to prepare to successfully capitalize on it. This position will will be responsible for all office client activity and agency initiatives in this burgeoning field. Specific responsibilities include; - Lead agency education and advocacy in emerging video areas of expertise (includes Connection College participation). - Help lead the annual broadband and VOD Marketplace assessment prior to the upfront- Develop in concert with media research a whitepaper on video viewership that can be disseminated widely. - Assist in the development of a single emerging video fact sheet that is updated quarterly and distributed to the agency.- Active participation in major media vendor negotiations (e.g., upfront, etc.)- Assist in the development and leadership of the video innovations role as it relates to the upfront strategy. - Ongoing development/evaluation of emerging valuation models for new media inventory.- Works in partnership with key Starcom Contact Activators and other areas where traditional and future television/video decision-making intersect: Starcom IP (e.g., broadband video, search, UGV, RSS, online measurement), Out-of-Home (e.g., place-based video), Starcom Entertainment (e.g., program production/financing, brand integration, product placement), Local Investment Group/LIG (e.g., local spot addressable cable, digital/satellite radio/video), Media Research (e.g., Nielsen ratings, alternate TV measurement methods, third-party syndicated data).- Participates in Starcom new business pitches, where needed.- Helps to work in partnership with DeNuo to position the agency as a nimble thought-leader in the fast-changing, digitally flavored media industry -- cross-pollinating with key intersecting disciplines such as wireless, gaming, word-of-mouth, and their ventures endeavors. - Maintains direct contact with and fosters developmental relationships among key firms and vendors in the space, including leading players in programming (e.g., broadcast networks and cable networks); distribution (e.g., cable MSOs, satellite firms, telcos, portals); technology (e.g., video on-demand, broadband, guidance & navigation, consumer electronics/set-top boxes, digital video recorders, interactive/enhanced TV); and research/measurement.Qualifications:The ideal candidate will possess a combination of marketing, advertising, media, agency, technology, and television industry experience in both traditional and interactive forms, and will be respected by the industry in this unique discipline.Must have:- A minimum of 5 years progressive experience in any/all of the above fields, with a heavy emphasis on "future of video" disciplines.- Superior functional skills in strategic planning and marketing, with solid exposure to business sales models and processes – especially the unique dynamics in the television/media space.- Strong organizational skills and high comfort level with fluid pace/structure of agency operations: ability to successfully prioritize and function in a fast-paced, highly dynamic environment.- Solid leadership skills for both internal (agency client groups, senior management) and external (clients, trade group/consortium) audiences- A demonstrated commitment and passion to digital media and its promise; must exude entrepreneurial spirit and be successful at building consensus and buy-in in the face of traditional "s
