Environmental Engineer

Responsible for coordinating, developing, administering, and assisting the leadership team in implementing the plant's environmental policies and procedures to ensure compliance with corporate standards as well as local, state, and federal regulations.1. Understands and follows all EH&S Policies and Procedures and the role related to compliance for the site2. Provide back-up to the EHS Manager during absences3. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and guidelines4. Ensure compliance with corporate standards5. Oversee the coordination and implementation of the day to day environmental needs of the plant6. Coordinate all facility air permits, waste generation, and disposal, storm water permits7. Perform reviews of new regulations to ensure continued compliance8. Provide technical assistance for new project work and for present equipment to ensure standard compliance. (This may include ordering and expediting materials, equipment, certificates, permits, and licenses)9. Work with Human Resources to develop and implement employee environmental training programs10. Maintain a working relationship with appropriate environmental groups and regulatory agencies at the local, state, and federal levels11. Participate in the plant's Environmental, Health and Safety activities and processes 12. Participate in the plant's Community Outreach initiatives13. Maintain departmental procedures and other documents necessary to ensure the quality operation of the department(s)14. Ability to work independently and to priortize work assignments15. Must be able to handle conflict situations with tact and civility16. Requires strong communication skills17. Must have strong problem solving skills18. Must have the ability of forward thinking and understand how the position fits within the goals of the plant and corporation19. Subject to 24 hour call20. Assure compliance with all FHR Cardinal Rules, DOT, OSHA, MSDS, and SOP's21. Follow-up with other departments to ensure that service standards are being met22. Maintain a professional attitude among co-workers and visitors to the facility23. Minimum travel as necessary24. Other duties as assigned
