Our Chemical Demilitarization Plant Operations (CDPO) specializes in providing support to government organizations engaged in chemical defense, chemical demilitarization, and treaty compliance services. CDPO is seeking a GC Operator (Demil Tech II) for our Tooele Chemical Agent Disposal Facility (TOCDF) activity in Stockton, UT for full-time work. Both shift work and overtime requirements are anticipated. Compensation will be based on qualifications and experience. A full benefits package will be provided. Position Responsibilities SUMMARY: Incumbent will ensure that an adequate supply of reconditioned DAAMS tubes are available to support plant operations and activities via routine and non-routine DAAMS sample analyses IAW with an approved work order and/or laboratory operating procedure (LOP). Operator will perform sample analyses using a GC-FPD, GC-FPD/MSD, and/or MSD instrumentation. Incumbent will be responsible for acceptance of new DAAMS tubes lots, verification of DAAMS tubes cleanliness, maintenance and verification of desorption blocks and other laboratory instrumentation, conducting operational and pre-operational checks for DAAMS department labs, and finally for providing preventative and corrective maintenance on a number of instruments to include, but not limited to, GC, GC/FPD, GC/MSD, EI-MSD, and/or CI-MSD. Additionally, incumbent will certify and cross-train to perform some or all of the DAAMS department duties, i.e., Data Analyst, Sr. GC Operator. Required Qualifications Bachelors' degree in chemistry with 1 (one) year of experience or bachelor degree in related scientific field with two (2) years of experience working with Gas Chromatography (GC), Gas Chromatography Mass Selective Detector (GC-MSD), and/or Liquid Chromatography (LC) instrumentation or any equivalent combination of experience and education is required, except where two years of work in DAAMS sample preparation and superior performance are indicated. Chemical agent/toxic materials experience desired. At least one (1) year of experience with laboratory data acquisition, processing, reporting, and recording software is desired. Experience with Microsoft Office suite (i.e., Word, Access, and Excel) is highly desired. 1) Must be a U.S. citizen. 2) Must be able to obtain and maintain a favorable National Agency Check (NAC). 3) Hired for the duration of the contract. Contingent upon meeting expected performance standards. 4) This position involves work near or with toxic and hazardous materials. 5) Must achieve certification in required subject areas. 6) Drug-free workplace; urine testing for drugs is mandatory. 7) Periodic blood tests for cholinesterase levels are required. 8) Work with toxic chemicals; expected to wear protective clothing/mask.9) Must be clean shaven; must wear seat belts when driving or riding in vehicles on post. 10) May attend approximately 4-8 weeks training at the US Army training facility in Maryland, and successfully pass the training agenda. 11) Willingness to work overtime. 12) Rotating 12 hour shifts is required. Day shift 6:00AM - 6:30PM. Night shift 6:00 PM -6:30 AM. In a 28 day cycle, shift work is comprised of 7 day shifts and 7 night shifts. 13) Understanding that failure to obtain or maintain certification or favorable results from the NAC will subject you to review for an open position and depending on your performance and skills; or immediate leave without pay or termination. 14) Must be able to acknowledge and respond to Emergency lights and sirens and be capable of wearing a protective mask.
