OBJECTIVES:
- Develop, manage and monitor technical aspects of Analytical related services executed globally on behalf of Americas region customers
- Provide technical, client and business Line support to the Americas region and Global Analytical Business Line as it relates to Technical Services, Technical support, Strategy, New Product Development, Capacity Planning and/or Technical Governance.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Technical Services
- Maintain awareness of industry best practices/standards and provide technical expertise to clients and colleagues in areas of analytical analyses, chemistry and consumer products. Share with colleagues and customers through technical opinions, interpretations and recommendations
- Develop relationships with key individuals/leaders in industry and/or multi-stakeholder organizations through regular participation in committees, meetings, attending conferences of such agencies.
- Develop and conduct technical training sessions in the Americas region both to internal and external individuals related to Analytical services. Coordinated with other regional team members for global consistency
- Lead technical portions of client meetings, presentations and seminars and develop and deliver analytical training presentations for client and supplier seminars
- Adhere to the requirements of the BV-CPS Quality System, assist in the development, maintenance and improvement of internal quality systems and participate in Global Productivity Initiatives for the Analytical business line.
- Develop and/or review internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Methods and Work Instructions, Standard Interpretation Practices etc for analytical
- Development of related marketing materials (service sheets, FAQs, training and technical bulletins) relating to Analytical topics in the region.
Technical Support to Business Development and Account Management Team
- Participate in meetings with prospective clients to introduce and explain BV''s services in the area of Analytical
- Develop an understanding of prospective clients'' needs and expectations and assist in matching them to BV''s analytical offerings
- Partner with the Business Development and Account Management to ensure the successful integration of new clients
- Assist the Sales effort to win new business by participating in all phases of the sales process, representing the Analytical Service Line, including Technical Presentations, proposal development, pricing, etc.
- Assist in developing Analytical Sales budgets working with Account Managers for new and current accounts in the region and support relevant global activities.
New Product Development and Service Strategy
- Monitors changes in region regulations or industry standards and works with others in the Service and Business Lines to update or develop new analytical methodology to ensure compliance with regional regulations or industry standards. Assess changes for the development of new services, repackaging of existing service and extensions for analytical services.
- Assess market intelligence on the Analytical Testing market in the Americas including market trends, market share, competitive position and profitability analysis. Recommend and develop proposals for exploiting new market opportunities, relevant acquisitions, etc. to grow the business generated from or in the region.
Technical Governance and Capacity Planning
- Responsible to ensure the integrity and consistency of the test methods with Division and Service Line policies, procedures and methods throughout the region via location specific and regional Managers/Directors.
- Support and ensure the effective and timely resolution of Analytical technical issues and problems related to the region whether internal, among sites, or client based.
- Assist in implementation and monitoring of adherence to global analytical methodology with the Americas region
- Monitor correlation programs related to analytical services in the Americas region. Provide technical guidance to ensure accuracy of test results in the region.
- Assist in complaint investigation and resolution as needed for analytical services in the Americas region
- Ensures Client Satisfaction of Analytical Service Line clients by working with and through the Lab Managers/Directors and Business Development teams- working with existing systems to monitor, measure, and improve issues related to client satisfaction with Americas locations.
- Ensure the regional capability and capacity for Analytical testing is established to meet sales and marketing plans.Required Skills
SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Extensive knowledge of Analytical Chemistry concepts, processes, and equipment and the demonstrated ability to implement them
- Marketing - ability to study and assess markets and identify opportunities and threats
- Client interaction skills: Demonstrated ability to work with customers, determine their requirements, secure additional business, define and assist in solving problems, and generally ensure their total satisfaction with BV
- Problem solving skills
- Effective oral and written communications skills including the ability to deliver presentations to in-house and client/vendor audiences. Strong training and presentation skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure, handle crisis situations, and balance several tasks simultaneously in a high pressure environment
- Ability to prioritize, delegate tasks to appropriate staff, and perform required follow up
- Highly developed organizational and interpersonal skills. Personable, with ability to work well independently, as well as in a team environment
- Ability to interpret regulations and standards.
- Strong math skills and working knowledge of statistical procedures.
- Strong computer skills. Medium to high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Lotus Notes and statistical packages
- Familiarity with laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
- Technical aptitude, the ability to quickly assimilate and assess new information and develop plans to capitalize or react to it
- Ability to effectively communicate with and foster productive relationships with retailers, brands vendors, factories, and industry leadersRequired Experience
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of a BS technical degree, preferably in Analytical Chemistry or related discipline
- At least two years of customer service or other relevant experience
