HR Generalist

In 1971, the Tribe purchased its first business, the Chickasaw Motor Inn in Sulphur. Today, there are over 50 business entities including gaming centers, casinos, travel plazas, hotels, restaurants, radio stations, a newspaper, Bedre’ Fine Chocolates and Bank 2, just to name a few.
We currently have an immediate opening for a Human Resource Generalist. The HR Generalists will function as an internal strategic business partner and consultant to help build organizational capability to meet financial and strategic goals. Develop and implement value-added HR strategies in the areas of: organizational and staff development, staffing, performance management, employee relations, compensation, reward and recognition, succession planning HR administration, etc.
Key tactical responsibilities include developing/implementing and coordinating polices and programs related to staffing, training, employee relations, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.In this role the Generalist will have the opportunity to expand their experience and expertise as they contribute to a variety of activities and projects, and participate on both HR and cross-functional teams. As a member of the HR team, the Generalist will be able to learn from and share insights with seasoned professionals as they help implement an initiative to ensure HR continues to provide value-added consultation to managers and supervisors.
Essential Job Functions: As an HR leader continue to present and champion new initiatives in Human Resources to ensure needs are being met.Ensure all HR functions are transparent to the organization and well represented and understood by the employee population. Interact with employees to ensure that HR is fully accessible to the organization. Understand business challenges of the organization.Develop, advise, interpret and implement with management all company employment and HR policy, practices and procedures, taking account of relevant legal requirements, bench-marked best practice, and the needs of the business.Provide an internal consultancy on a range of HR issues such as performance management, talent management and development. Make best use of HRIS systems in order to meet management information requirements. (Headcount reporting, performance management, etc.)Manage HR projects as required by the HR management team to ensure that HR policies and procedures are developed continuously to meet overall business requirements. Increase effectiveness of HR programs and processes by training and counseling employees, provide feedback and analysis of current effectiveness and impact, and identify opportunities for improvement. Handle employee relations issues as well as monitor and improve organizational issues through coaching and counseling techniques. Responsible for all recruiting functions including facilitating recruitment process and working closely with various hiring mangers in setting recruitment strategy, candidate sourcing, initial screening, interviewing, reference checking, and selection.Follow up with candidates verbally and in writing to maintain interest and/or provide notification of hiring decisions.Support and manage training initiatives.Investigate complaints and allegations, maintaining sensitivity and confidentiality, ensuring consistency, equal employment, and legal compliance at all times.Document information, partner with managers to draft written communication to appropriate individuals, and participate in unemployment hearings. Partner with line management on culture management, change management, and organizational effectiveness.
Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills and Ability: Bachelor’s degree requiredA minimum of 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience in HR required, preferably in multi-site/multi-state environments. PHR preferred, or progress towards certification. Advanced computer literacy with specific proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Knowledge of Access desirable. Previous experience in a public company desirable. Demonstrated aptitude in more than one area of human resources (e.g. employee relations, recruitment, organizational development, affirmative action). Solid understanding of federal/state laws and compliance requirementsDemonstrated ability to research and analyze various types of data information. Working knowledge of HR related laws/regulations Demonstrated track record of participating in programs that resulted in improved efficiency and measurable results for the organizationStrong written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated commitment to and proficiency in customer service culture. Ability to establish credibility with managers and employees. Self-motivated with the ability to operate independently, work proactively, and to achieve results without close supervision. Demonstrated practical, hands-on, “can-do” approach, and the ability to work efficiently and creatively. Ability to identify and prioritize necessary strategic objectives while managing daily tactical requirementsExhibits and champions excellence in work and a willingness to embrace change. Ability to multitask, manage multiple and simultaneous priorities, and prioritize a heavy workload in a fast paced, dynamic environment is required. Proven organizational skills and experience leading small-scale projects. Proactive approach towards improving processes and systems. Strong analytical, diagnostic and problem solving skills. Ability to exercise sound judgment, strong negotiation, and conflict resolution skills. Ability to identify and handle priority and/or sensitive issues with discretion and a commitment to confidentiality. Ability to make large group presentations and consult effectively one-on-one.
