HYDROLOGY MODELER
Job Description:POSITION OVERVIEW: Perform various hydrogeologist assignments requiring the application of principles and fundamental theories studied in a four-year university hydrology or equivalent program. Applies specific skills and knowledge of hydrology to perform water resource assessments and environmental compliance activities. Knowledge of Great Basin aquifers would be beneficial.SPECIFIC DUTIES HYDROGEOLOGIST: Supports and contributes to the analysis of water resources, water acquisition, groundwater modeling, well management, environmental impact analyses, facilities expansion, and/or land use requirements.Must have strong mathematical and analytical skills. Performs analytical tasks using spreadsheets, databases, GIS applications, and other software.. Assists with the preparation of predictive groundwater models using MODFLOW, including development of conceptual models, data inputs, calibration, evaluation, predictive simulations, and presentation of model results. Assist with report writing and review of documents to be used in water resource acquisition, management, and environmental compliance. Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate. PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: 4-year degree in Hydrology or a closely related field and min.10 to 15years of related work experience, Master Degree in Hydrology or closely related field preferred. Mandatory Training and Experience - Familiarity with ArcGIS, MODFLOW, Excel, Access, GMS, and programming (FORTRAN and VB). Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.Master’s Degree in earth science, hydrology, geology, or civil engineering is desirable.A valid Nevada driver’s licenseRegistration as a Registered Geologist or Professional Geologist is desirable.
