SUPPORT ANALYST/HELP DESK

Summary: Installs and supports software systems. Provides technical assistance and training to system users by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinates software and hardware implementation plans. Oversees projects as directed by the Manager of Information systems.
Installs hardware and peripheral computer components.
Monitors business critical systems and takes corrective action to ensure system up time.
Loads specified software packages such as operating systems, word processing, database, or spreadsheet programs into computer.
Monitors telephone PBX systems. Implements changes to system configurations to meet business requirements including; adds, moves, and changes.
Enters commands and observes system functions to verify correct system operation.
Responds to client inquiries concerning systems operation and diagnoses system hardware, software, and operator problems.
Instructs users in use of equipment, software, and manuals.
Recommends or performs minor remedial actions to correct problems.
Coordinates activities with Manager, Information Systems.
Provides updates, status, and completion information to manager, problem request tracking system, and/or users, via voice mail, e-mail, or in-person communication.
Replaces defective or inadequate software packages.
Interviews users to collect information about problems and leads user through diagnostic procedures to determine source of error.
Determines whether problem is caused by hardware such as modem, printer, cables, or telephone.
Logs and tracks calls and maintains history records and related problem documentation.
Trains users on software and hardware on-site or in classroom, or recommends outside contractors to provide training.
Installs personal computers, software, and peripheral equipment.
Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
Associates degree and two to five years related experience
Must frequently lift and/or move equipment which may weigh up to 25 pounds and occasionally may weigh up to 50 pounds.
Must thrive in a high performance environment.
Must have the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Computer Skills:
Must have knowledge and experience with Database software; Internet software; Project Management software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software including Micro-Soft Office Software. Additionally, knowledge and experience with the following Operating systems: OS400, Linux, Windows 2000 server.
