Inside Sales Representative (Telesales)
Job Summary
The Membership Sales Representative is a vitally important position for Promotional Products Association International. Persons in this position are literally the face of the organization, playing a consultative advisor role to prospective companies and assisting current members in realizing the full value of their membership investments.
MSRs have the following responsibilities:Sell memberships to qualified companies in the promotional products industry, primarily via phoneSupport overall membership recruitment and retention goals, which are critically important to the associationRespond to and follow up on Member inquiries and leads in a timely manner Implement retention and recruitment plans for suspended and prospective new membersRepresent PPAI to its members and prospects in multiple venues, including industry trade showsAssist in creating awareness and a positive image of the association
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead applicants throughout the qualification and recruitment process and establish relationships with key prospect personnelDrive recruitment activities by initiating contact with leads from multiple sources, including trade shows, regional databases, membership inquiries (phone, fax, mail and e-mail), nonmember UPIC subscribers and othersDevelop current leads and create new sources of leads whenever possibleImplement retention plans targeting suspended members; initiate contact with all members prior to renewal dates, in cooperation with Member Care RepresentativesMaintain iMIS database by updating member records, entering lead information and documenting membership communicationsExecute exhibit logistics, order processing and requirements for industry trade shows, as assignedAdhere to PPAI professional trade show staff standards while providing member services support, recruitment and retention activities at trade shows Provide special retention support to major services users prior to expirationTrack results and initiate actions that help Membership Services achieve its recruitment and retention objectives Regularly create and submit reports that communicate activities, achievements, barriers, opportunities, and solutionsCreate and transmit (via mail, internet and fax) dues quotes, sales materials and invoices resulting from inquiriesFollow up with qualified applicants and persistently lead them through application or renewal processes
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Five (5) years related work experience or equivalent High school diploma required, Bachelor’s degree preferredDemonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook Experience with Membership Relationship Management (iMIS) or similar membership database management system preferredExperience in import and export of data, mail merging and Internet useStrong organizational skills and attention to detailOutstanding written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated ability to independently compose effective letters and communicationsAbility to speak effectively with individuals via phone, email and at trade shows Ability to communicate and work effectively with individuals on many levels: prospects, customers, staff, volunteers, etc.Ability to work independently and demonstrate sound judgmentPrior experience in a customer/membership services, trade show or sales function strongly preferredSelf-starter; strongly goal oriented, with bias toward actionMust occasionally lift and/or move boxes, trade show accoutrements and other materials weighing 25 poundsAbility and willingness to travel up to 15% to association show eventsBilingual skills a plus
