Inspector I (helper)

 

Inspects offshore structures, vessels, and pipelines, and their appurtenances, for conformance to specifications, using fixed or preset measuring instruments; Travels offshore on vessels and in aircraft.  Examines materials or products for anomalies, damage, or defects, such as cracks, pits, incomplete welds, holes, dents, excessive corrosion, etc.  Examines coating conditions.  Takes cathodic potential (CP) readings using a “drop-cell” technique.  Records inspection and other statistical data in the course of underwater inspections and surveys of offshore structures, vessels and pipelines.  Makes appropriate drawings and sketches to supplement written data.  Keeps inspection data organized.  Uses computer and various software applications to prepare, check and package various types of inspection and survey reports.Minimum Requirements:Education:High school diploma or general education degree (GED).Experience:0-2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Skills & Knowledge:Basic computer knowledge in AutoCAD, MSWord and Excel.  Must perform basic math skills with accuracy.  Aptitude for technical writing.  Ability to work with minimal supervision.
