Investigations Manager

Stewart Enterprises, Inc., the second largest provider of products and services in the death care industry, headquartered in New Orleans, has an immediate opportunity for an Investigations Manager.

Responsibilities include:Develop and execute a strategic and tactical plan that addresses internal and external fraud for the Company. This includes: Specifying preventive methods for deterrence of frauds. Developing detection methods and systems to identify frauds in progress. Investigating detected frauds to bring them to rapid conclusion, including prosecution. Provide consultative support and training to operations and corporate management on appropriate Company policies and processes, including those relating to employee ethics. Hire, develop and retain a highly professional, skilled investigations team. Assist in the analysis and assessment of the internal controls of the Company's operational and financial activities. Develop data and provide information to be included in formal reports for Sr. Management and the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors. Assist or complete special projects as directed by Senior Management and the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors.

Qualified candidate will have the following:Undergraduate degree in a business or criminal justice curriculum is required. Graduate degree is desirable. Professional certification as a Certified Fraud Examiner, Certified Protection Professional or similar designation is required. Additional certification as a Certified Public Accountant or Certified Internal Auditor is highly desirable, as is a private investigations certification. Eight or more years experience conducting complex financial and contractual internal investigations or similar law enforcement experience is required, and prior experience managing a professional investigations staff is preferred. Strong leadership and communication skills are required, and the ability to mentor, train, coach and guide professional staff. Prior experience in a professional environment involving regulatory accounting standards is desired – knowledge of the requirements made under COSO, 404, and Sarbanes-Oxley is a plus. Effective oral and written presentation skills are required. Ability and willingness to travel on short notice is required. Strong PC skills are required and knowledge of the Stewart platform (AS400) is preferred.
