To learn more please visit us at www.polyone.com GENERAL SUMMARY: The Maintenance Associate is responsible for completing work order requests to build and repair equipment as quickly and accurately as possible while keeping associated costs to a minimum; handles preventive maintenance ensuring all equipment is maintained in good operating conditionPolyOne also offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, life insurance plans and a 401k plan that start on the first day of employment. This position is located in Seabrook, TXESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: * Performs basic troubleshooting of machinery, tools and equipment. Identifies/repairs malfunctions on a system level, minimizing down time* Performs/documents preventive maintenance including, but not limited to: lubrication, belt changes, inspection, tests such as metal thickness, current draw, rpm, etc. * Performs building maintenance including basic plumbing, electrical and mechanical work, carpentry, etc. * Performs basic design, fabrication, and construction including, but not limited to: carpentry, welding/brazing, burning, plumbing (i.e. low pressure systems, solvent welded pipe, etc.), electrical, machine controls and instrumentation (i.e., relays, motor starters, etc.) * Responsible for waste water and cooling water systems* Researches supplies, parts and machines needed to complete work orders or PM’s * Assists in organizing/maintaining accurate inventory of parts * Performs/documents work orders* Maintains/tracks workload and assignments. Completes/maintains required paperwork, records, logs, etc. * Other duties as assignedMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: * Requires an Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school in maintenance mechanics related field along with at least 1 – 3 years experience in maintenance, construction, or a related field; or a combination of education and experience deemed equivalent. Must have mechanical aptitude* Requires ability to operate a wide variety of tools (i.e. hand and power tools, drill press, band saw, welder, cutting torch, lathe, etc.) * Must be able to read/comprehend written and oral instructions in English; read and comprehend rules, instructions, manuals and product recipes/material identifications* Must have mathematical skill to add, subtract, multiply and divide and the ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement, volume, and distance* Must be able to effectively communicate in English * Must have ability to reason and address problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations* Must have manual dexterity sufficient to operate a wide variety of small hand tools (i.e. scales, spatula, hand trucks, fork lift, mixer/blender machinery and computer equipment) * Core competencies for this position include: Safety/Housekeeping, Quality/Quantity of work, Position/Work knowledge, Initiative, Reliability, Adaptability, Attitude/Interpersonal Skills, Teamwork, Attendance and Continuous Improvement and Process FocusPHYSICAL DEMANDS: * While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; talk and/or hear; occasionally required to sit* Must frequently lift and/or move up to 55 pounds and occasionally handle up to 250 pounds* Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focusWORK ENVIRONMENT: * Requires the use of safety equipment as dictated by the work area (i.e. safety glasses and shoes, respirator, face shield, chemical suit, etc..)* Work is inside and the typical noise level is loud * Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles.
