Maintenance Technican II/III - NIGHT SHIFT
JOB FUNCTION:
Works under very general supervision from the Maintenance Supervisor. Technician will have primary responsibility for operation, repair, and maintenance of facility utility equipment, including boiler systems, chiller & cooling tower systems, HVAC equipment, air compressors, and other typical plant utility equipment. The technician will also be required to perform installation, repair, and maintenance of process equipment and/or buildings & grounds. The technician must be able to direct others in performance of work when required. The technician, regardless of scheduled shift, will be required to comply with stringent gowning requirements and may be required to work continuous operations schedules (including weekends).
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Technician will have primary responsibility for operation, repair, and maintenance of facility utility equipment.
Complete Preventive Maintenance and Demand Maintenance works orders as assigned and document all work performed, per established procedures and guidelines. Also must adhere to calibration standards in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements and company policies and procedures.
Troubleshoot and repair moderately complex production equipment with minimal supervision. Supervise work of outside contractors when needed.
Assist with spare parts inventory maintenance, including documenting needed spare parts, materials usage, parts ordering, shipping and receiving of parts.
Seek opportunities for improvements, identify potential problems, suggest and implement solutions.
May be required to handle, collect, label, and/or transfer hazardous chemicals or chemical waste, per established procedures or guidelines.
Education:
Requires high school degree or equivalent
Experience:
Requires a minimum of seven years of previous experience and/or formal training in mechanical and electronic equipment maintenance and troubleshooting. Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
Requires familiarity with maintenance of one or more of the following: mechanical systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, chemical, electrical, digital and analog electronics.
Skills:
Requires solid PC skills and familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Must also be able to learn other advanced software programs that are used in industrial environments.
Requires advanced analytical and diagnostic skills and ability to learn to design and modify equipment to improve performance
Requires ability to analyze equipment logs, understand trends, and take appropriate actions for adverse indications.
Requires ability to work under pressure and respond with a sense of urgency
Requires the ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics, flowcharts, and other technical drawings
Requires excellent competency in proper use of hand and power tools and instrumentation in performance of duties.
Team player, individual thinker, self-starter
Must be able to complete fork-lift training and man-lift training
Special Training:
Requires prior training and knowledge in the maintenance and operation of facility utility equipment, including HVAC equipment and high-pressure boilers, including the ability to perform the following activities: start equipment and adjust controls; monitor temperatures, pressures, and fuel delivery equipment; clean and service major utility equipment including boilers and flues; perform chemical water conditioning; perform minor maintenance on valves and pipelines; maintain safety and take remedial action in emergency situations.
