Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Manager I, Mfg Eng - 100143 - Sylmar, CA - 0300 Job Description:Primary Function Senior technical manager for a group of product lines, technology, or specialized functions. Primary responsibilities include medical device production support, operational excellence initiatives, and new product process development. Duty / Responsibility 1. Functional scope includes oversight of all aspects of Neuromodulation Operation’s engineering. This includes oversight of Leads, Pulse Generators, External products, Mechanical engineering and Electrical engineering. Responsibility includes both commercial product and new products in development. 2. Identifies and communicates department vision, new strategies and projects for the improvement of key business metrics. Partners with other senior manufacturing staff members to drive continuous improvement related to Quality, customer service, and product cost. 3. Understands and complies with regulations governing Quality Systems throughout function. Drive product and process quality improvements through multiple levels in an organization. Chairs continuous improvement team meetings, reviews metrics, assigns and manages technical projects to provide Quality and Value improvements.4. Implement and maintain manufacturing process capabilities and controls on production lines. Drives both creative innovation and disciplined problem solving methods throughout organization. 5. Identifies and champions manufacturing process development initiatives. Identifies future technology and intellectual property critical to future business growth and drives implementation. Ensures new designs are manufacturing capable. 6. Develops and ensures budgets and schedules meet corporate requirement. Oversight for disciplined project management methods and systems utilized within function. 7. Champions the sharing and leveraging of initiatives, processes, and accomplishments across the divisions/plants. 8. Provides guidance and training to staff, assists subordinates in attaining career goals, motivates individuals to achieve results, and recruits and maintains a high quality staff. Defines, monitors and provides feedback to organization on functional and leadership competencies. 9. Responsible for succession planning and the development and implementation of retention strategies. 10. Interacts directly with senior management to provide recommendations and status of engineering function. Responsible for manufacturing line yields, scrap reduction, mistake proofing initiatives, equipment validation, and R&D into Operation’s transition planning of new processes or products into production.Special Knowledge / Skill Strong working knowledge of manufacturing methods, quality procedures, facilities, and electro-mechanical assembly techniques.Strong interpersonal skills, project management experience, written and verbal communication skills and thorough detail orientation to complex technical and business issues.Experience Ten years minimum experience in technical profession with progressive responsibility and 8+ years people management experience. Experience with medical device manufacturing for implantable products and FDA/ISO compliance guidelines. Education / Training Bachelors Degree in an Engineering discipline.
