Job Summary This position has 1st line responsibility for conducting primary (qualitative and quantitative) market research and secondary data analysis for the payer customer segment, with the objective of providing insightful and actionable analyses that will help to guide commercial decision-making. In the conduct of this position, the Sr. Analyst will act as an advisor to the payer team, including senior management within the Customer & Market Insights group, the commercial “Insights Partner”, and executive and senior management within payer marketing, sales, and ancillary commercial support functions. Responsibilities of this position are focused upon uncovering and interpreting the attitudes, needs, and behaviors the payer segment. In this capacity, the Sr. Analyst will be responsible for working collaboratively with colleagues across the Customer and Market Insights group to share and integrate insights from other customer segments (consumer, professional, CI, etc.) to derive a cohesive “marketplace” perspective. Analyses and perspectives are expected to identify and quantify product and market needs and opportunities and will be derived through well founded research, integrated analysis, and acquired through design and management of research projects and via management of third party consultants and services. Job Responsibilities *Makes expert use of a range of complex medical pharmaceutical marketing intelligence tools (both quantitative and qualitative), and primary research models, integrates disparate intelligence into comprehensive analyses towards strategic/tactical recommendations for action in guiding product commercial optimization. Outputs include extensive therapeutic market potential/product opportunity and performance evaluations, written diagnostic reports and research results, presentations to commercial teams, Senior Management, Marketing, Sales, etc. *Identifies, designs and implements appropriate and integrated programs of market research in support of promoted products, on time, within budget and deriving optimum value through negotiation with multiple suppliers and vendors. Proactively reviews literature, on-line services and current information/data to update continuously the strategic vision for the business by staying abreast of current and future competitive situations. Advises Management of these competitive threats in the marketplace, with timely dissemination of information regarding all pertinent market and industry events to appropriate personnel.*Develops, maintains and continuously improves upon the Best Practices in market research within Customer and Market Insights. Effectively seeks, communicates, and encourages these practices across all activities and interactions with colleagues in Customer and Market Insights, Marketing, Planning and partner organizations.*Acts as an internal consultant and information-provider to the commercial “Insights Partner”, Therapeutic and Product Teams and as a professional skills expert in market research methodologies and knowledge of the Therapeutic markets. Through peer-group and/or collegial interactions, mentors and coaches fellow members of Customer and Market Insights, Commercial Teams and Market Research staff to enhance their development and departmental value.Basic Qualifications*BA/BS required.*MBA or advanced degree required.*Formal training on the theory and practice of a wide range of primary and secondary market research methodologies is required. Fundamental understanding of the tools and techniques for forecasting and model building.*BA/BS +8 years experience with +3 years qualitative/quantitative marketing research leadership experience.*MBA +5 years experience qualitative/quantitative marketing research leadership experience.*Demonstrated experience with qualitative and quantitative research methodologies and secondary information sources within the biopharmaceutical industy.*Experience within managed markets and across various therapeutic areas.*Demonstrated project management skills.*Demonstrated experience in interpreting business information into actionable insights; guidance for business decision-making.*Excellent communications skills.*Strong presentation skills.*Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team Comfort in interacting with all levels (senior, executive, peer) of an organization.*Strong desktop computing skills.*Familiarity with online searching and data analysis tools.*Familiarity with biomedical/drug terminology.*Level and title will be commensurate with the education and experience level of the selected candidate.
