Marketing Director

Job Summary:

Senior management position responsible for delivering overall Marketing leadership, strategic planning, management and measurement of marketing plans for Standard TV and Appliance and George Smith Appliance Warehouse in both the Portland and Bend markets. Lead and manage Marketing Department staff.

 

Departments/Positions Reporting to Marketing Director:

Graphic Designers, Web Administrator, Marketing Assistant, Advertising Merchandiser, PR Manager, Media Spokesperson, Media Planner & Buyer.

 

Responsibilities:

1)  Implement and develop brand marketing communication strategies that drive sales volume and profit growth as well as build consumer reach and awareness.

2)  Provide direction and leadership to promote retail sales.

3)  Direct and oversee all company and off-site events and sponsorships.

4)  Develop, track, analyze and manage the effectiveness of marketing strategies and methods.

5)  Conduct business, market, industry and competitive research, tracking and analyses.

6)  Develop website/internet strategy and programs.

7)  Develop annual and quarterly budgets and manage these in partnership with Finance.

8)  Oversee production of marketing collateral including all ROP advertisements.

9)  Develop and enhance relationships with vendors, media representatives and appropriate professional organizations.

10)  Work with vendors to develop, execute and track integrated marketing programs.

11)  Create, write and produce all TV and Radio Spots for Standard and George Smith.

12)  Recommend and administer policies and procedures to enhance operations and increase profitability.

13)  Work closely with sales team to create an annual plan and ensure integrated marketing programs are successfully executed.

14)  Develop, coach and manage direct reports.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

1)  Exceptional marketing acumen with the ability to combine the strategic with sound tactical execution. 

2)  BA/BS degree in Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, Management or related field plus 7 years of progressive experience in marketing and advertising.

3)  Understanding of retail operations and at least 3 years experience working in a multi-site retail environment with profits of at least 50 million per year.

4)  Strong understanding of financial and retail business diagnostics as well as analytical skills and business acumen. Track record for setting and achieving quantitative marketing objectives.

5)  Skill and experience in negotiating strategic media deals.

6)  Strong strategic, analytical, and organizational capabilities.

7)  Requires strong computer skills and experience including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

8)  Strong understanding of Arbitron and Nielsen reports.

9)  Ability to work on several projects simultaneously.

10)  Excellent oral and written communication skills.

11)  Must be a self-starter and have the ability to work without direct supervision.

12)  Must be willing to travel locally and to other Standard markets (Bend).

13)  Must be willing to work evening and weekends as required for events and special functions.

14)  Act as company spokesperson at community and company sponsored events.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

1)  MBA degree

2)  Working knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint and Strata.

3)  Basic knowledge of modern Macintosh design programs (In-Design, Illustrator, etc.)
