Responsibilities: The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for design, development and fabrication of small hand held surgical devices. The engineer will also provide technical assistance to the research team. Further responsibilities will include designing parts, assembling prototypes, and write procedures. In addition the engineer will conduct test and experiment, analyze data, and generate reports. Minimum Qualifications: Must have at least 5 years related hands-on experience working with medical instruments, must have assembly skills, and be mechanically minded, a team player. Must have good verbal and written communication skills, and a demonstrated commitment to detail. It is advantageous that the candidate have machine shop, hand tool, and microscope experience. The successful applicant must have working knowledge of: * Small mechanisms and assemblies * Mechanical Design * Materials (polymers and metals)* Biocompatibility * Product/Process validation testing Preferred Qualifications: * Fluid flow, injection molding, extrusion, engineering plastics and/or elastomeric materials. * Solid Modeling (Pro/E preferable)* Labview* Some electronics or RF catheters or similar experienceAlcon is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to quality through diversity.
