Medical Billing Specialist - GREAT PAY UP TO 40K

Job Description:DescriptionThe Medical Billing Specialist position requires a broad knowledge base of all functions on an account. This can include some or all of the following: inputting demographics, charge entry, payment posting, correspondence and reimbursement guidelines. A solid understanding of the IDX system. Has to possess good customer service skills internally and with clients.REPRESENTATIVE MAJOR ACTIVITIES 1.Enters new patients and updates name, address, etc. changes as required. 2.Enters charge information for clinic and hospital patients. 3.Post receipts, make deposits and request refunds as requested by account procedures. 4.Prints daily reports, verify balancing of charges, payments and adjustments at day end. 5.Verifies/identifies reimbursement issues, coding denials, etc. 6.Send out insurance claims as required by account procedures. 7.Participates with other staff to follow up on accounts until no balance or turned over for collection; could include monthly A/R action plans 8.Works through problem items returned by VHS providing a solution. 9.Works denials via correspondence utilizing coding staff, online services and other tools as needed. 10.Review training bulletins to keep up with policies and procedures. 11.Report problems/trends to team leader. 12.Answers the telephone and provides information as requested. 13.Maintains strictest confidentiality. 14.Work on special projects as needed. 15.Performs related work as required. KNOWLEDGE ABILITY/SKILLS REQUIRED Good knowledge of medical billing policies, procedures, and concepts. Knowledge of computer operator functions. Skill in performing repetitive duties of operating CRT. Ability to follow specific instructions and set procedures to transfer data into computer. Ability to communicate effectively and confidentially on all levels. Working knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT codes. Ability to interpret billing procedure changes and assimilate information to computer entry requirements. Flexibility and reliability.
