Merchandise Planner - SAP Implementation
POSITION OBJECTIVE: Develop, learn and test the SAP Merchandise Planning system for the Columbus Project. Represent Soma business interests on the project team. Assist with training and change management activities for the project. Once project is completed, transition to being a merchandise planner in Soma, fulfilling the responsibilities below. In addition to normal planning duties, continue to function as their system and process subject matter expert. FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: • Determine unit quantities to buy and to reorder (to the color and size levels), which will effectively maximize the ability of each store to generate sales and margin. • Review distribution of unit quantities to stores, which will effectively maximize the ability of each store to generate sales and margin. • Ensure that the stores are kept in stock respective to their ability to sell merchandise. • Develop a working knowledge of the concept of “average store” and apply it to the development of unit buy quantities, allocation of merchandise, and monitoring of the business at the store level. • Develop a working knowledge of the concept of “store attributes” and apply it to guiding the type of merchandise developed for stores (respective to each store's attributes), development of unit buy quantities, allocation of merchandise, and monitoring the business at the store level. • Conduct periodic reviews with the Allocator of the following to ensure stock levels meet current sales trends: - Store rankings and indices - Basic stock replenishment items and quantities by store - Sizing by store • Develop Monthly Unit Plans for major programs and Key Items to determine sales goals, ensure adequate stock to meet fixture fills and goals, maintain a weeks of supply that fits with in OTB parameters during the full-life price of the merchandise, and to effectively monitor these elements to project future stock needs or to recommend clearance strategies. • Champion the Key Item program and partner with the Merchant on the development of it. Develop Weekly Unit Plans for targeted key Item merchandise and as appropriate, determine store goals, and monitor store performance against these goals. • Lead (partnering with the Merchant) the Monthly Business Review (MBR) process through the development of sales, markdown, receipt and inventory forecasts, supporting these forecasts with unit projections, and reporting unit performance and receipt issues during the MBR meetings. • Be a leader within the organization by being outspoken, by looking for ways to improve processes, by mentoring others, by sharing ideas and by having a positive attitude. • Have fun with the work each day and enjoy the unique ability to be part of a creative and energetic team of merchants at Soma • Ensure all orders fall within approved Financial OTB parameters. • Ensure execution of merchandise processes and all deadlines.
