Microbiology Manager

Bodycote’s Portland, OR lab is amongst the largest food labs in the Northwest, professionally staffed with 20 scientists and support personnel. We provide food chemistry and microbiological testing using validated methods as per AOAC, AACC, FDA BAM, EPA and USDA guidelines.

 

We are currently seeking a Microbiology Manager.  This position reports to the General Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities:Collect client samples according to the LIMS generated batch sheet and analyze.Maintain high standards of analytical quality.Perform analysis as documented in the test method.Analyze samples for a number of microbiological parameters.Complete client sample analysis within specified Turn Around Time.Interpret and validate results and data.Perform regular equipment and reference organism culture maintenance.Oversee general section operations and the quality system.Train Technicians and maintain employee proficiency.Review Technicians data and quality of work.Monitor Technicians work performance.

 

Education and Qualifications:

 Completed Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in Microbiology or related field.5 years of Supervisory or Management experience preferred.Strong MS Office skills in a Windows environment.Ability to work cooperatively with others.Demonstrated time management and multi-tasking skills are critical.
