Job Summary

The Network Security Engineer will ensure the continuation of security operations in a highly efficient manner while keeping business needs in mind. The primary duties include: Participation in security projects, assisting in/designing network security in new and existing Local, Wide, and WiFi area networks; implementation and maintenance of security products including firewalls, web proxies, intrusion detection/prevention systems; discovery and investigation of suspect behavior, and performance related problems; collection and review of system log data; assists in conducting random in-house vulnerability assessments and provides 3rd-level engineering escalation for security issues, and ensures risk-free implementation of all security, business and technology solutions.

This position is highly technical and requires thorough understanding of network security infrastructure, a wide range of enterprise infrastructure technologies, business objectives, system requirements, and Industry compliances. The Network Security Engineer must maintain current knowledge of both technical and industry relevance and have the ability to evaluate changes, and act as the key liaison with other operational groups and IT teams to improve the company information security.

 

Essential Functions

· Implements, Configures and manages various network security devices: Firewalls, VPN Concentrators, Intrusion Detection/Prevention Systems, Antivirus products, SMTP filtering, Content Switches, Proxy services, etc.

· Responds to InfoSec incidents, and conducts forensics as need.

· Provides technical support to Network Engineer and Telecommunications group concerning security when required - experienced in routing and switching.

· Experienced with Windows/UNIX/Linux system administration.

· Monitors all network security reporting tools and systems, reports all issues to the Director of Technology for direction.

· Monitors security sites such as SAN.org for all updates and alerts, and takes action as directed.

· Prepares and maintains project documentation, including network configurations and cabling layouts.

 

Job Requirements and Qualifications

Education:

· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related area from a four-year college or university, or a minimum of six years LAN/WAN training and experience.

 

Knowledge Requirements:

· Microsoft MCSE/S Certification.

· Cisco Certified Network Professional. (CCNP)

· Cisco Certified Security Professional. (CCSP) or Equivalent 

· Firewall Certification

· CISSP

· GIAC

· PCI

· HIPAA

· SOX

 

Experience:

· Four years experience in LAN/WAN support.  Experience supporting users and installing, configuring, and supporting servers, workstations, and peripherals in a Microsoft environment required. Hand-on experience on Check Point /Cisco firewalls. Hands-on experience with Web proxy servers and Web securities. Hands-on experience with Cisco/Juniper SSL VPN. Strong knowledge in routing/switching - Ability to use tools such as Visio, Network Analyzer/Sniffer, Network/Host and wireless IPS and Microsoft technologies is required.
