Nuclear Operations Analyst
The Nuclear Operations and Special Weapons Program, has immediate openings
for at least two Senior Analysts to help "reset" the Air Force Nuclear
Enterprise and will include a wide range of challenging and rewarding work.
Experience with, or an in-depth understanding of, the nuclear mission or
familiarization with Air Staff processes and procedures are required. The
ideal candidate will have expertise in one or more of the following
categories: Aircraft Nuclear Operations; ICBM Operations; Nuclear Command
and Control; Personnel Policy; STRATCOM; Requirements and Acquisition; and
Plans, Policy and Doctrine.
Specific tasks will include:
1) Assist A3/5N in development of the Air Force Nuclear Enterprise Roadmap.
This will involve conceptualizing, organizing, and executing a single source
document that identifies possible courses of action and provides strategic
guidelines for managing and planning current and future Air Force nuclear
weapons, stockpiles, and studies through 2040.
2) Support the Air Force General Officer Steering Group (AFNGOSG). The
AFNGOSG is a decision-making body composed of 20+ General Officers
representing the nuclear community across the Air Force and is attended by
100+ action officers. Support for other conferences, such the Reliable
Replacement Warhead Executive Steering Group meetings (review body composed
of 15+ senior level DOD and DOE personnel, attended by 50+ action officers)
and CBRN 100 course (4 day course designed to train airmen in the basics of
CBRN science, course given bi-annually) will be routine.
3) Supporting the Air Force Scientist Career Advocacy Team. Assist in
developing a strategy to better train, retain, and promote scientists in the
Air Force. This effort will include facilitating meetings/brainstorming
sessions, organizing and running the CBRN Qualification Program, and hosting
(delivering presentations for?) the CBRN 100 course.
4) Nuclear Surety, including the Personnel Reliability Program (PRP),
nuclear security issues, and survivability assessments to include the
effects of Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) on current delivery systems and
communication assets.
5) Assist in developing plans, policies and strategies, including
preparations for the upcoming Nuclear Posture Review (NPR) and Capabilities
Review and Risk Assessment (CRRA).
6) Dual Capable Aircraft (DCA) nuclear issues, including NATO, force
structure, future systems, and requirements.
7) Conduct research on a wide-range of issues directly impacting the Air
Force Nuclear Mission (including reestablishing linkages to the intelligence
community).
