Position Description – Outside Sales / Design Consultant

 

Position Purpose

 

The Design Consultant contributes to the success of 3 Day Blinds by providing in-home and commercial clients with a world class service experience. The Design Consultant drives sales and provides expert design advice by offering products and/or services that meet the clients’ needs. This role reports to the District Manager. 

 

Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

 

· Provides quality client service in a friendly, professional and timely manner

· Builds strong client relationships from initial greet through close of the sale

· Demonstrates advanced knowledge of products and services and uses this knowledge to maximize sales and enhance the level of customer service provided

· Practices advanced selling techniques, including top-down and suggestive selling to drive average order size

· Develops client prospects and generates new sales opportunities by targeting local businesses, home builders, neighborhoods, etc.

· Anticipates client needs by constantly evaluating environment and clients for cues

· Follows up with clients to ensure needs are met and works collaboratively with Showroom team to resolve customer issues quickly and effectively

· Knows and properly executes all systems and POS procedures to ensure a quick and efficient client interaction

· Communicates effectively with other team members and Management and is flexible to the needs of the business

· Understands and executes Company operating policies and procedures

Requirements

Preferred Qualifications

· High school degree or equivalent is required.  Some college work is preferred in a related discipline

· 2-5 years of outside sales consultant experience, preferably in a specialty or custom product/service sales environment

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies

· Strong, refined relationship-based selling skills, with strong, demonstrated customer service orientation

· Ability to learn quickly and be resourceful

· Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and request clarification when needed

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills

· Ability to work independently, but also work as part of a team

· Ability to prioritize work within a multi-tasking and fast paced environment

· Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and request clarification when needed 

· Strong follow-up skills

· Ability to learn new procedures, process POS transactions, and be comfortable with new technology
