DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

 

California Prison Health Care provides medical care to the California Department of Corrections (CDCR).  CDCR is responsible for housing adult felons committed to state prison by the 58 California counties and operates 33 state prisons ranging from minimum to maximum custody.  The Department is working to create a system where custody and health care staff together guarantee that access to care and the quality of medical services in California prisons meet constitutional standards.  Information regarding the CDCR and its correctional facilities may be found at:  http://www.changingprisonhealthcare.org/.

JOB DESCRIPTION

 

The Pharmacist I processes and fills prescriptions, interacts with providers on pharmacotherapy interventions, supervises technicians, performs day-to-day staff pharmacist functions and participates in pharmacy reform initiatives as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

Possession of a valid certificate of registration as a licentiate in pharmacy issued by the State Board of Pharmacy.
