DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

 

California Prison Health Care provides medical care to the California Department of Corrections (CDCR).  CDCR is responsible for housing adult felons committed to state prison by the 58 California counties and operates 33 state prisons ranging from minimum to maximum custody.  The Department is working to create a system where custody and health care staff together guarantee that access to care and the quality of medical services in California prisons meet constitutional standards.  Information regarding the CDCR and its correctional facilities may be found at:  http://www.changingprisonhealthcare.org/.

JOB DESCRIPTION

 

The Pharmacist II acts as the Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) managing the day-to-day operation of the pharmacy, supervising staff, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements as well as CDCR policies and fostering quality pharmacy services and patient care and implementing  pharmacy reform initiatives in the local facility.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

Possession of a valid certificate of registration as a licentiate in pharmacy issued by the State Board of Pharmacy; and

Either I

One year performing the duties of a Pharmacist I in California state service.

Or II

Two years of experience as a registered pharmacist, preferably including one year in a hospital pharmacy.
