Payroll Administrator Description:SUMMARY: The Payroll administrator is responsible for accurately processing the semi-monthly commission payroll in a fast-paced multi-location environment for approximately 700 employees. Actively maintain various payroll files, calculate manual checks, calculate and import commissions and anticipate and resolve complex payroll issues. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following. Primary duties will include:* Accurately process the semi-monthly payroll.* Calculate and process commissions for several different sales functions to guarantee each compensation plan is administered according to policy.* Work directly with management to discuss any errors or discrepancies. * Completes uploads of payroll information such as bonus, commission, into the payroll system.* Calculate monthly sales manager bonuses.* Assist employees with question regarding the commission payout.* Monitor pay or adjustments as required for employees on LOA.* Verify data entry of new hires, terminations and various status changes.* Update and maintain W-4 information as requested by the employee.* Update and maintain direct deposit information as directed by the employee.* Payroll auditing pre and post processing to ensure accuracy, compliance, overall balancing and reconciliation. * Verify salary changes and process retro pay, as directed by the Compensation Dept.* Process manual checks for terminated employees as required.* Assist with the bi-weekly payroll processing, to include but not limited to: - Assist branch locations with the input of technician hours via eTime software - Assist with the processing of payroll from FLSA calculation to G/L close - Transmission of Direct Deposit and Positive Pay files to bank. - Printing, folding and sorting of paychecks for overnight deliveries.* Provide back up support to other team members on the payroll team.* Utilize the Bank of America Windows software to perform inquiries and process stop payments as necessary.* Other duties may be assigned as necessary.Qualifications:QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. A minimum of three years current payroll experience in a multi-state environment required. Possess a strong knowledge of multi-state tax rules and regulations. PC skills include spreadsheets (Excel) and word documents (Microsoft Word). Working knowledge of Lawson Software strongly preferred. Professional credentials such as CPP.OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Must have the ability to take ownership of work and look for ways to improve processes. Strong attention to detail, organized, and able to think through payroll processes. Ability to multi-task as well as work quickly and accurately. Interpersonal effectiveness, especially relationship building is required. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Possess strong communication skills. Must be able to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. The ability to effectively present information in a one-on-one and small group situation to internal customers and management.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. REASONING ABILITY:Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.PERSONAL SKILLS:Possess a demonstrated ability to work effectively with payroll partners.
