They form the foundation of our SUPERVALU Advantage - the key to our continuing success.Title: PURPOSE: Primary responsible to coordinate all payroll tax activities, including in the preparation, filing, and paying of federal, state, and local payroll tax returns. Assist with Quarter and Year-End processes. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage department’s daily mail and filing. Manage daily/weekly payroll tax files to Tax Service provider, Ceridian (CTS) are remitted and funded timely and accurately. Coordinate special payroll (bonus, commission, etc.) tax funding files. Reconcile weekly payroll tax funding to Ceridian to insure tax deposits are correct. Prepare and submit payroll tax journal entry. Prepare, submit, and review quarterly tax files to CTS. Reconciliation of taxable wages and taxes during Quarter and Year-End processes. Assist with reconciliation of the Cash Payroll Tax entry. Payroll Finance - Treasury Assist CTS with new tax set-ups to ensure accounts are set-up properly for depositing and reporting. Tax notice resolution Special projects and other duties as assigned.PEOPLE RESPONSIBILITIES: No supervisory responsibilitiesSCOPE DATA (management positions): NAJOB REQUIREMENTS: Basic knowledge of accounting concepts is required. An accounting degree is preferred but not required. 1-3 years Payroll/Payroll Tax experience or equivalent work experience. Multi-state experience highly desirable. Prior experience with Tax Service providers desirable. PeopleSoft payroll experience Possess good communication skills, both oral and written. Possess ability to work with and through others to achieve desired results. General knowledge of computer capabilities. Prior experience with personal computer spreadsheet, database, and document preparation applications desirable.PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT: Most work performed under general office conditions in a temperature controlled environment; sitting for long periods of time at a desk or computer terminal. Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at desk or computer terminal. Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone, and other office equipment in the course of normal workday.
