Principal Financial Analyst

Primary customer industries include Refining and Petrochemicals, Upstream Oil and Gas, Pharmaceuticals and Fine Chemicals, and Power and Utilities.SENIOR FINANCIAL ANALYSTHouston, TXBASIC FUNCTIONDevelops, interprets and implements financial concepts for financial planning and control. Performs technical analysis to determine present and future financial performance. Gathers, analyzes, prepares and summarizes recommendations for financial plans, acquisition activity, trended future requirements and operating forecasts. Performs economic research and studies in the areas of rates of return, depreciations, working capital requirements, investment opportunities, investment performance and impact of governmental requirements. TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES• Manage the Planning, Budgeting, Forecasting and Reporting processes. Analyzes trends and significant deviations in actual performance to budget and recommends corrective actions to operations management• Review and analyze monthly financial results and incorporate trends into quarterly forecast• Review, analyze and investigate trends, metrics and dashboard tracking • Participate as Finance partner on cross functional project teams• Assist in streamlining analysis and reporting routines• Work on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of the business• Provide sound financial advice and direction to management and staff on business that affect financial performance, including product cost and pricing, margin analysis, reporting and measurements • Appraise operating results in terms of costs, budgets, trends and profit and makes specific recommendations for cost reductions and profit improvements • Ensure compliance with corporate finance policies and procedures, delegation of authority, internal control processes and finance reporting requirements • Participate in the preparation, consolidation and analysis of financial data for periodic and annual financial statements• Conduct investigations, peer reviews and audits without supervision• Perform reconciliations with proficiency in project accountingGENERAL TECHNICAL SKILLS• Effectively respond to management requests for information and analysis• Strong analysis skills, curiosity to research issues, willingness to expand breadth of knowledge• Strong written and verbal communication skills• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasksEDUCATION• Accounting degree or related discipline• CPA preferredEXPERIENCE• 5 years at large Accounting firm• 5 years finance or accounting experience at the Staff Accountant level or equivalent, preferred• Experience in project accounting in an engineering or construction company, preferred• Supervisory experience, preferred• Must be proficient in Excel and Word• SAP experience preferredWHY JOIN INVENSYS?As part of our team, you’ll build a strong career with a collaborative, knowledgeable team of people.
