Job Title:  Principal Network Software Engineer

 

Description: 

Product Development is responsible for the creation, development, testing, and refinement of product concepts, requirements definition, development execution, verification, and validation for new products, and the maintenance of existing products.

This position will be the lead technologist responsible for network software architecture and development for the network-based controller of a new class of mobile devices in the Location Based Services industry.  Develop robust software architecture based on high-level requirements, and integrate network solution with embedded mobile features similar to a “server-client” model.

 

Responsibilities:Design, develop, and test software for use with complex wireless products.Generate overall software architecture for network platformDeliver complete network software platform around industry standard hardware platformsPrepare and manage exhaustive testing of final solutionDevelop future product capabilities and plans based on market opportunitiesWork as a member of a larger cross function development teamCollaborate with other engineers throughout the product development team to effectively identify and resolve technical test issues and own driving these issues to closureWork closely with selected vendors to integrate and test software with final hardware platformRegularly lead and conduct technical reviews.  Champion the benefits of these reviews to the project team Provide regular status and progress towards milestones with program leaders, and senior engineering managementProvide support for fielded products and products. Take a lead role in supporting product trials and product introductionWork closely with network partner to provide necessary field support for problem identification and resolution with initial releases of productDevelop and test workarounds, provide fixes for customer problems, and make recommendations for enhancements to resolve customer problemsProvide direction for future feature development and new product development



Qualifications:

· Intimate familiarity with wireless/mobile platforms

· BS/MS computer science/programming (or BSEE with appropriate experience)

· 5- 8 years experience in product development, developing sophisticated cellular telephony, computer systems, and/or networking technologies/products.

· Network systems development for mobile devices, with specific knowledge in GSM network systems

· > 5 years in a technical project leadership role

· Excellent leadership, and communications skills

· Experience with code design in a real time environment

· At least 5 years experience with high level software languages such as C/C++

· At least 3 years experience with GSM/GPRS network and mobile platforms

· Solid understanding of SMS protocols and hardware platforms/gateways

· Experience with “over-the-air” software updates in a mobile environment

· Solid working knowledge of SIM toolkit and USSD

· Knowledge of security/encryption protocols such as SSL or other public-key solutions
