Job SummaryThis is a senior level scientist with proven independent performance in both drug discovery and as a basic research scientist, with a record of accomplishment in research and demonstrated effectiveness as a team member on a discovery or development project..Job ResponsibilitiesDemonstrates special skills and knowledge into a particular research project as evidenced by proven successes at the bench. Demonstrates a high level of initiative in performing experiments, particularly when problems are encountered which require troubleshooting.Conducts several complex experiments in parallel. May coordinate internal activities related to an alliance and serve as a liaison to external party in alliance.Basic QualificationsPhD in an area of biological research, with 5-7 years post-degree industrial experience in high-content cytometry for drug screening or basic research. The successful applicant will also lead efforts to develop new, multiplexed assays in cytometry for medium-throughput use. Applicants are expected to be expert in fluorescent assay development cytometry data analysis and associated data management, and familiar with a broad range of automated microscopy instrumentation. Experience in liquid handling robotics and instrumentation in aseptic applications is required.The successful candidate will head a laboratory team utilizing high-content cytometry as a readout for cellular perturbation by compounds, proteins, or RNAi. Assays performed in the laboratory will involve primary cells, viral vectors of exogenous genes, and will be oriented towards providing richer readouts of biological activity than assays performed for compound screening, including optical parameters of cells. The successful candidate will be part of a team of biologists, bioinformaticians, and statisticians providing pathway, mechanism, and predictive knowledge to Discovery scientists in both short- and long-term projects.
