Job Summary Plan and implement API Process Analytical Technology (PAT) projects with minimal supervision. Conduct laboratory work aimed at improving API process control using in-line and at-line analysis tools to optimize purity, particle size and crystalline form. Provide expertise in design of experiments and chemometrics for successful process control using PAT. Work with 3rd party API manufacturers to share common PAT platform knowledge, ensure optimal process control and support validation and launch batch manufacture. Serve as a resource to NP & OE API-process development scientists in the application of PAT tools. Job Responsibilities Conduct experimentation aimed at devising in-line and at-line controls for the synthesis, isolation and purification of APIs. Devise ways to improve process robustness through the application of appropriate PAT tools. Plan and carry out process development activities to support further scale-up of API unit operations for transfer to internal scale-up facilities or 3rd party suppliers. Prepare technical reports for evaluation and development of unit operations. Be a resource for technical expertise on PAT and chemo metrics. Publish/patent relevant studies. Facilitate status updates on projects (monthly reports, Project Review Meetings etc.). Interact with peers and managers in manner consistent with Wyeth’s company values of quality, integrity, respect for people, leadership, and collaboration. Identify process by-products and devise appropriate in-process tests. Keep abreast of breaking technical developments in chemical engineering, process modeling, PAT. Satisfactorily complete all cGMP and safety training in conformance with Departmental requirements Basic Qualifications Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or related discipline B.S./M.S. in Chemical Engineering with emphasis on PAT Experience with laboratory API process development, design of experiments, hands-on use of automated reactors and in-line analysis tools is required. Exemplary communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment are prerequisites for the job. Knowledge of reaction calorimetry, Pilot or manufacturing scale process development, API powder characterization and solid form screening are highly desirable. This position requires a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or related field with minimum 5 years of development experience. Strong background in in-line analytics is desirable. B.S./M.S. in Chemical Engineering or related field with relevant experience in PAT and process engineering. Position number is 20190. Relocation is available for this position.
